Position: Registered Nurse, (RN) - Acute Care/Med Surg, Full Time, Night Shift

Overview

Island Health is offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for an experienced Acute Care Unit Registered Nurse for our Full-time Night shift at our hospital in Anacortes, WA.

0.9 FTE / 36 hours per week

Salary
  • Salary Range: $37.64 - $71.35/hour
  • $10,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible new employees
  • Night Differential - $4.75/hour
  • Evening Differential - $3.25/hour
  • Weekend Differential - $4.00/hour
  • BSN (or higher) premium - $1.00/hour
  • Certification premium - $1.00/hour

Acute Care Unit Registered Nurse

Job Responsibilities
  • Utilizes 5 step nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) to provide service needed for patient care.
  • Acknowledges, coordinates and implements diagnostic and therapeutic orders of each patient.
  • Accepts responsibility for knowing State Nurse Practice Act, current hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Administers medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing standards and hospital policies.
  • Identifies emergent situations and can perform calmly during emergencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to operate necessary equipment.
  • Acts as a resource person regarding patient care and staff development.
  • Establishes treatment priorities based on medical and nursing diagnoses.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of life-span development considerations.
  • Supports clinical pathways.
Skills/Qualifications Communication & Interpersonal Skills
  • Documents relevant information accurately and legibly in accordance with approved charting methods.
  • Respects patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality, advocating as necessary.
  • Responds constructively to verbal and non-verbal cues from patients, families, visitors, peers, and staff.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of patient status to support staffing and coordination.
  • Assesses knowledge level of patient/significant other and participates in goal development.
  • Develops teaching plans and evaluates outcomes.
  • Documents nursing process components according to standards.
Professionalism & Leadership
  • Supports hospital and nursing department policies and suggests improvements.
  • Assesses staffing needs and seeks appropriate help to ensure quality care.
  • Participates in performance evaluation and peer review to ensure patient safety.
  • Attends workshops, in-services, and staff meetings as required.
  • Participates in formulation and implementation of unit standards.
  • Provides leadership in patient safety and adheres to safety goals.
Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current licensure in Washington State required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
Work Environment

The work of this position is performed inside, with exposure to indoor environmental conditions. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common in a health care environment. The noise level is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand for extended periods; push, pull, and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop and stretch. Must have full range of body motion and coordination to operate equipment. May lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodation can be made for disabilities to perform essential functions.
