About UNOY Peace builders
The United Network of Young Peace builders (UNOY) is a unique youth-led global network of 100+ youth peace organisations from 70 countries around the world, promoting the participation of young people in peace building around the world. UNOY is a dynamic organisation working towards the vision of a world free from all forms of violence, where young people have the power to transform conflict, youth participation is real and meaningful for all, and young people actively partner for peace without fear or threat.
The network is coordinated by an International Secretariat (IS) with an annual budget of EUR 900.000, based in The Hague and is established as a foundation under Dutch Law. The IS is managed by a Management Team (MT) composed of two young Co-Directors. The UNOY Peace builders Board currently consists of eight members supporting the IS with specific portfolios: HR, organisational finances, fundraising, communications, and advocacy.

The Board meets every 1,5-2 months, and in total 6-8 times a year, generally in The Hague (alternating in person meetings in the office with online ones). All Board members commit to preparing for and attending Board meetings, as well as occasional involvement in other activities, relevant to the expertise they bring in (on average up to five hours per month).
Since 2019, the organisation’s budget and team size has more than doubled, thanks to the securing of long-term structural funding. This growth has led to a process of professionalisation of the organisation through the development of a number of
financial policies and procedures, such as an Anti-corruption Policy, a Reserve Building Policy, or the adoption of procurement rules. In order to cement this growth and to uphold the financial sustainability of the organisation, it is of paramount importance to continue to strengthen the financial policies and procedures.
In this context, we are looking for a Treasurer of the Board that brings in relevant experience and expertise in financial management. This Board member will work closely with the Co-Directors on strengthening and implementing financial policies and procedures.
Specifically, you will be:
– Reviewing quarterly and yearly financial reports of the organisation;
– Reviewing yearly budgets developed by staff;
– Support the Co-Director (Strategy) and Finance Coordinator in the development and revision of financial policies and procedures of the organisation;
– Supporting the Co-Directors in the handling of financial matters within the organisation.
General profile of UNOY Board members:

● Committed to the field of peace building and to promote youth participation and rights in society;

● Understanding of and alignment with UNOY’s mission, vision and values;

● Experience in the field of peace building and/or experience in the field of youth participation is preferable;

● Fluency in English (required) and Dutch (preferred).
Profile of the Treasurer of the Board:

● Relevant experience and expertise in in the areas of financial management, bookkeeping and accounting, including in financial planning, monitoring and reporting;

● Track record in developing and monitoring financial policies;

● Expertise in long term financial planning and financial development for NGOs;

● Knowledge of the legal and financial environment relevant to a Dutch Stichting/NGO;

● Motivated to help a dynamic youth-led peace building organisation in professionalising, particularly in its financial management.
Important notice :
The position is voluntary and there is no remuneration, except for reimbursement of expenses (commuting costs for board meetings). The proposed term of service would begin in June/July and last two years. We especially encourage applications from candidates under the age of 35. The positions are open only to persons residing in the Netherlands.

How to apply:

Please send your  CV and a letter of motivation  explaining the expertise you plan to bring to UNOY and approach to this position by the  14th of April 2024  to  vacancy . The review of applications and interviews will be carried out on a rolling basis until the deadline or shortly after.
