Our AI engineers and techleads are adaptable professionals; full-stack developers who not only possess expertise in engineering but also have a deep affinity for and experience with Generative AI and its latest innovations.

You’ll work on a portfolio of use cases that range from improving customer contact (e.g. voicebot) to revolutionizing the way how we interact with documents by leveraging GenAI. As an AI Techlead you’ll be working with colleagues from the team on projects across the bank. We take care of the full development cycle from exploring and identifying opportunities, experimenting, and creating prototypes, to developing scalable products.

Effectively this means that per specific use‑case our focus can be on a variety of Engineering solutions ranging from Backend to Frontend, from leveraging LLMs to agentic AI.

Your activities include:

• Together with our project leads lead and oversee development and implementation of (Gen)
  AI use cases
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for AI projects
• Coach junior/medior AI engineers in the team to further develop their full-stack skills
• Act as the go‑to expert for resolving complex technical challenges

You’ll be part of the AI Team of the Innovation division in Amsterdam and we provide ample opportunities for hybrid working. We have a start‑up vibe. Our team consists of people (25+) with a passion for AI and we work every day to create (measurable) impact for the bank. There is an open team atmosphere where initiative is encouraged, and we provide daily coaching for juniors in our teams.

As an AI Techlead within the Innovation teams at ABN AMRO, you will serve as a  blended expert.  While this role does not require you to be a Data Scientist or an IT Engineer specifically, a strong interest in both fields and a commitment to developing expertise in each are essential. You’ll need excellent problem‑solving skills to be successful in this role by being able to translate complex business problems in tangible AI solutions.

Therefore, we are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate this combination through relevant prior experience.

• You have a Masters degree in the field of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Mathematics
• You have 5+ years of fullstack developer experience combined with experience to build end-to-end (Gen)
  AI solutions
• Excellent proficiency in Python
• Demonstrated ability to develop AI solutions with a product mindset, aligning technical execution with user needs, business goals, and measurable success metrics

• You have a sense for business, and understand how AI and machine learning deliver value
• You are pragmatic and value-focused, e.g. not afraid to work with existing solutions to reduce time‑to‑market
• You are able to communicate effectively with technical and business counterparts
• You are a (technical) teamleader who codes alongside with your team
• You are up to date on the latest developments within AI and can guide others in finding optimal solutions
• You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are a self‑starter.
