Lead Product Designer

In 2018, Bitvavo launched the first version of its digital assets trading platform, to bridge the gap between traditional currencies and digital assets. Bitvavo is looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our User Experience team. In this role, you will help setting design direction at a domain level, championing user-centered design to deliver elegant, high-impact experiences that simplify complex financial systems. You will play a key role in shaping how millions of users across Europe interact with digital assets.

You will work in close partnership with the UX leadership to evolve design strategy, standards, and culture, while personally leading the most complex and high-risk initiatives across our product ecosystem. Collaborating with senior peers across Product, Engineering, and Research, you will help stress-test strategic bets, align teams around a shared experience vision, and ensure long-term quality  will be embedded in 1 or 2 product squads, but will also have impact domain-wide supporting the design manager and leading through the craft among designers.

• Lead end-to-end design initiatives across mobile and web, setting domain-level interaction paradigms and quality bars
• Personally tackle the most ambiguous and high-impact problems
• Drive discovery with your product team, partnering with Research and Data to ensure insights continuously inform strategy
• Translate complex trading and financial concepts into simple, durable user experiences
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and the Design Manager to align priorities, standards, and delivery
• Elevate craft by defining reusable patterns, contributing to design system evolution, and mentoring senior designers
• Champion accessibility, inclusion, and long-term usability as foundational to every solution

• At least 8 years of experience as a Product Designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work
• Proven experience in product-driven, B2C / B2B environments
• Experience in fintech is a strong plus; background in crypto, trading, or financial systems is highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work independently at a high level of craft, with a passion for refining and elevating every detail
• Proven track record of leading design in high-impact initiatives with senior stakeholders across disciplines
• Strong storytelling skills to articulate design rationale and influence decision-making
• Data-informed mindset with experience measuring design impact and iterating for continuous improvement
• Self-directed and adaptable, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability in fast-paced environments
