As a (Junior) Hotel Business Controller, you'll act as a key business partner, helping to drive operational efficiency, strengthen commercial performance, and ensure a robust financial control environment aligned with corporate policies and procedures.
This role requires frequent travelling to Rome to collaborate with our Italian team.
About
The Role
As a (Junior) Hotel Business Controller, you will have oversight and financial responsibility for hotel activities, supported by the central Finance team in the region including two Business Controllers, with oversight and financial responsibility for two hotel activities including Financial Management & Statutory Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting.
Your Responsibilities
Reporting and Analysis
Provision of valuable insight that drives performance and continuous improvement
Oversight and production of monthly management & financial reporting
Preparation of accurate & insightful commentary including weekly forecasts, monthly business reviews and forecasts
Liaison and support to the centralised transactional team to ensure accurate, efficient and effective processes
Budgeting And Forecasting
Co‑ordination and preparation of hotel budgets and forecasts
Preparation, review and presentation of accurate and timely hotel budgets & forecasts in alignment with the agreed corporate budget timetable and with relevant stakeholders in the hotels
Financial Control
Completion of control activities and monitoring & review of performance against agreed key financial controls & KPIs
Monitors and reviews Rooms performance against agreed key financial controls.
Monitors and reviews hotel food & beverage performance and inventory management.
Review and authorisation of hotel expenditure and bank payments.
Review, monitoring and approval of hotel time & attendance data and weekly/ monthly rotas.
Performance Improvement
Actively manage and review margin performance & operational efficiency, to improve hotel conversion and maximising hotel asset value.
Act as Finance Business Partner and provide guidance to the General Manager(s) during performance review meetings including monthly management meetings, commercial meetings and weekly/monthly forecast meetings and business review meetings with the regional team.
Active collaboration with other finance colleagues to identify opportunities for process improvement & new efficient ways of working.
What Are We Looking For
Completed a HBO / WO level education in the field of Finance, Economics, Business Administration or Hotel Management
Has at least 3 years of work experience in a similar position in the hospitality industry
Is fluent in both English & Italian
Actively takes the lead and provides a positive role model for leadership
Demonstrates a continuous business improvement focus by challenging the way things are done
Communicates effectively to achieve desired impact and influence in a range of situations
Not only focuses on the numbers but also knows how to think from an operational (hotel) perspective.
Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting and month- end close
