Safety Coordinator Amsterdam

Are you passionate about creating a safe and healthy work environment? As a Safety Coordinator at our Amsterdam Bunge plant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of all employees.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, managing, coordinating, and guaranteeing compliance with Bunge Global’s safety, occupational health, and environmental standards, policies, and procedures. Your efforts will be essential in preventing harm to individuals and facilities and fostering a culture of proactive safety among workers.

Main Accountabilities
In this role, you will be at the forefront of promoting a safety-first culture. You will verify, manage, and report on various safety controls. Your expertise will be the key person between shop floor and management to implement safety systems/actions based on Bunge’s Production System, audits, and incident reports. Field supervision and job preparation:
Be as much as possible visible on the field and be the go-to person for employees and contractors. Coordinate the preparation of the jobs by performing TRA’s, SOP’s, toolboxes, and regular field walks.

  • Safety Culture Promotion:
    Promote and coordinate proactive safety involvement from the site, with help of proactive indicators reporting, free learnings, and safety recognition program following the HOP (Human and Organizational Performance) principle.
  • Incident Reporting:
    Manage and follow up on the reporting of (proactive) safety indicators and free learnings involving Bunge employees, contractors, or visitors within the plant.
  • Incident Analysis:
    Conduct studies and analyze causes of incidents, health hazards, and creating and implementing action plans.
  • Training & Toolbox Coordination:
    Identify and coordinate necessary training and toolboxes for each department and task, including training and introduction for contractors.
  • Implementing Safety System:
    Be part of implementing safety systems, actions based on legal requirements, audits, and Bunge Production System.
  • Periodical Safety Meetings:
    Be part of the 2-weekly safety meetings and safety committee to discuss safety issues, establish corrective action plans, and participate in organized other safety meetings.

What do you bring to the role?
You bring a solid foundation in safety, coupled with a passion for creating and maintaining safe work environments. Your understanding of regulations and standards in safety and health protection equips you to navigate and implement effective protocols.

  • Educational Background: bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or HSE related diploma.
  • Knowledge:
    Regulations and standards in safety and occupational health.
  • Safety Practices:
    Competence in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
  • Training and Development:
    Passion for training and mentoring teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Leadership in Safety:
    Proactive involvement in leading safety meetings, contributing to safety initiatives, and driving improvement projects.
