Overview
The Registered Nurse at North Mississippi Health Services Systems is responsible for providing safe, quality patient care using the nursing process, maintaining effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires leadership skills in prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating work assignments, as well as effective problem-solving abilities to respond to changing patient needs.
Responsibilities- Uses the nursing process to provide safe, quality patient care and document accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with NMHS policies and requirements as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator. Educate patients and families and act as a resource for existing staff and new employees.
- Provide patient/family education and participate in the Preceptor program to ensure proper training of new employees.
- Maintain communication with multidisciplinary team members to provide holistic care to the patient.
- Attend daily huddles on each unit to ensure proper assignments and identify team members for the shift.
- Project a caring, friendly, and helpful image to patients and other customers.
- Utilize the patient communication board to inform patients and families about names, goals, staff, procedures or tests for the day.
- Comply with NMHS behavioral standards.
- Maintain competency by staying informed of changing trends in nursing practice; attend annual reviews and unit-specific training; complete required continuing education online and in classroom settings.
- Comply with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements; hold RN licensure in the state or Compact State licensure; maintain ongoing regulatory knowledge.
- Education:
Associate's Degree Registered Nurse required; completion of RN orientation and unit-specific checklist requirements. - Licenses and
Certifications:
RN – Registered Nurse, State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure; CPR; ACLS; PALS; NIH Stroke Scale Certification. - Work Experience:
Relevant nursing experience as determined by department requirements. - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication and teaching skills; working knowledge of regulatory and accrediting standards; ability to prioritize, delegate, and evaluate work; anticipate resources; assimilate data and report appropriately; orient new employees; strong interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff.

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting 50 lbs, pushing/pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping/kneeling/bending, reaching/overhead work, grasping, speaking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination are routinely required.
