AMHERST Golf Course Attendant
The position has two different parts:
Customer Service at Pro Shop and Starter/Ranger on the Golf Course. It is not necessary to have experience in both.
- Maintains, prices, and stocks inventory.
- Manages payments and handles cash, checks, credit cards and other payment forms accurately.
- Responds to customer inquiries, including communicating Pro‑Shop policies.
- Ensures adequate supply of forms, sports equipment, and materials.
- Orders and stocks high‑quality equipment and materials.
- Performs housekeeping duties and keeps the shop clean and comfortable (wiping golf carts, etc.).
- Maintains security: locks entrances/exits; permits admission only to authorized personnel during non‑store hours.
- Completes accounting of cash in presence of closing attendant and records receipts on transaction forms.
- Deposits cash as instructed and records daily events in logs (weather, activities, vandalism, injuries).
- Completes time and attendance sheets per state labor regulations.
- Assists with building maintenance as requested.
- Displays, organizes, and sells merchandise and products.
- Monitors play and enforces club rules from opening tees across the course.
- Enforces tee times as Starter at first tee in accordance with registration information.
- Observes and upholds order as Ranger throughout the course following clubhouse rules and expectations.
- Monitors pace‑of‑play, intervenes when pace conflicts arise, and ensures safety of all participants.
- Intervenes and penalizes behavior that detracts from culture or efficiency of daily operations.
- Maintains communication with the clubhouse and assists golfers on the course when needed.
- Fills in for clubhouse duties when necessary.
- Operates golf course equipment and golf carts.
Demonstrates proficient and quality customer service, ensures smooth operation of Pro‑Shop and golf‑course activities, and maintains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School degree or equivalent plus one year of recreational golf participation, or a combination of related education and experience.
- Demonstrated customer‑service experience and ability to serve customers, merchants, the public, and employees.
- Knowledge of golf’s game, rules, regulations, and familiarity with community golf facilities and equipment.
- Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interact and communicate respectfully with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Proficiency with office equipment: computer, credit card reader, cash register, and other standard office equipment.
- Data entry and computer report generation skills.
- Inventory count and record keeping.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Ability to coordinate golf‑game schedules and work with the general public, greens employees, staff, supervision, and merchants.
- Ability to operate golf-course equipment and golf carts.
