NFI Massachusetts Inc., a non‑profit human services agency, is currently seeking a full‑time Permanency Clinician shared between residential programs in Wilmington and Amesbury.
The Permanency Clinician is responsible for managing a designated caseload of youth (ages 13‑18) residing within congregate care setting who lack natural and permanent family connections and viable reunification plans. The essential functions include assessment of the youth’s relational connections and family readiness for reunification; development of the permanency team and facilitation of youth‑centered permanency round tables (PRT); family search, identification, and engagement;
and coordination of post‑permanency services and supports. The role will deliver therapeutic interventions to the youth, who may experience vulnerability, hopelessness and treatment regression throughout the permanency process.
The clinician will work in conjunction with the youth’s assigned program clinician, collaborate with DCF and other relevant collaterals to solidify a viable permanency plan for each youth served, assist the clinical department to provide training and consultation to program staff around permanency best practices, serve on the agency’s permanency committee, and deliver services on site as well as in the youth and family member’s home and local community.

Job Responsibilities- Provide individual counseling, when appropriate, as defined by each client’s clinical treatment plan and as it relates to permanency work; facilitate and/or coordinate clinical in‑service training related to permanency.
- Collaborate with program management and staff regarding therapeutic milieu and clinical orientation of program.
- Facilitate family meetings and home visits, as defined by each client’s clinical treatment plan.
- Participate in permanency meetings, trainings, and clinical meetings.
- Coordinate, facilitate and/or participate in case conferences, treatment meetings and clinical review meetings, as appropriate; be familiar with all program emergency procedures.
- Completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field required.
- Candidate must be license‑eligible; LMHC, LMFT or LICSW preferred.
- Previous experience in congregate care or mental health preferred.
- Previous experience with child/adolescent population and their families preferred.
- Knowledgeable in human development, childhood trauma and permanency.
- Knowledgeable regarding DCF regulations, policies and practice.
- On call coverage as needed.
- A flexible schedule is required; position is primarily Monday through Friday with most direct time with youth/families in afternoons/evenings, weekend work may also be necessary.
- Travel is required; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is a must.
