About the RoleYou will work as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. The role includes determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The Specialist provides support under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician and follows industry regulations and EHS guidelines.
How You Will Contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs, following SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and transport to emergency care.
- Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs on medical/technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and assess need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations into pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or an equivalent nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned (LPN or LVN).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfilled state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completed FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
