- Experienced Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants are strongly preferred
Mercy One Iowa Heart Center was founded in 1970 and is one of the largest cardiovascular practices in the US. With 52 physicians, services are offered in General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiovascular Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Preventative Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Iowa Heart Center has an accredited Cardiology Fellowship program (6 Fellows), advanced imaging including cardiac MRI and cardiac CT, and a destination LVAD program.
Iowa Heart Center has 8 primary office locations and attends 28 outreach facilities spanning much of the state of Iowa. We are an active clinic research department, participate in all the major STS registries, and perform more than 10,000 cardiac interventions a year.
Ames is a vibrant city with a population of approximately 66,000, known for its strong educational foundation as home to Iowa State University. Just 45 minutes north of Des Moines, the city boasts many features of a large city with the privacy of a small town. Ames is known for its diverse economy, featuring key sectors such as education, research, and technology, which contribute to a low unemployment rate.
