Job Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments while ensuring that products are securely and properly crated for transport. This role involves receiving, inspecting, and documenting materials, assembling custom crates, and preparing shipments according to specifications to prevent damage during transit. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and knowledgeable in material handling, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists
- Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring products are properly packaged and crated to prevent damage
- Construct custom wooden crates and skids using saws, nail guns, drills, and other hand and power tools
- Securely brace and protect products within crates using appropriate padding, supports, and strapping
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material‑handling equipment to move goods as needed
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, and discrepancies
- Work closely with purchasing, production, and sales teams to ensure timely distribution of deliveries
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Keep the shipping and receiving area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards
- Assist in cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accuracy

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or logistics preferred.
- Experience with woodworking, crating, or packaging is highly desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and shipping instructions.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for crate assembly.
- Ability to lift and move packages and materials weighing up to [weight requirement] lbs.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory tracking software.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under time‑sensitive deadlines.
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist role involves a mix of physical work and administrative tasks. The majority of the shift is spent on their feet, loading and unloading shipments, operating forklifts, and organizing inventory. Some desk work is required for documentation and tracking shipments. Required PPE, including safety glasses and steel‑toed footwear, must be worn in designated areas. Working hours are Monday‑Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Overtime may be required.
