Job SummaryAre you the type of engineer who likes to take on tough and challenging problems and create innovative solutions for them? Vermeer is looking for a self-motivated Embedded Hardware Engineer who is a creative thinker looking to solve unique problems. In this role you will develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain electronic hardware for control and sensing systems. In addition, you will assist with development of software that interfaces and drive the electronics.
In this position, you will be part of a team to use your experiences in embedded hardware design and control system theory to develop unique embedded system solutions for harsh off-highway jobsites.
- Four
-year college degree in the field of Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace or Software Engineering with a minimum of eight years related experience or other two or four-year college degree with a minimum of fourteen years of related experience. Master of Science preferred. - Expert in electronic design automation tools, including a demonstrated ability in schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit analysis, and other specialized engineering software is required. Experience with Altium ECAD tools is preferred.
- Strong experience with embedded software environments, such as Python, C, and C++ required. Experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS is preferred.
- In depth knowledge with serial interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and UART required. Knowledge of advanced protocols such as USB, CAN, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi preferred.
- Extensive experience in embedded control and sensing, power electronics, robotic, and/or guidance system design for offroad worksites and machine solutions.
- Good practical experience in engineering development processes, troubleshooting, and project management.
- Experience in product development and field work of embedded systems for sensing or control in outdoor construction or field research situations found in petroleum, geophysical, or mining industries.
Occasional travel is expected of this position.
