Are you a Geotechnical Engineer with site experience in bulk earthworks?
We are looking for a freelance Geotechnical Engineer to join a Tier 1 contractor on a major HS2 infrastructure project. You will supervise and monitor excavation, fill, compaction, and stabilisation works, assess ground conditions, and provide expert geotechnical advice to ensure works meet design specifications.

What you’ll do:

Monitor earthworks compliance with the Specification
Identify dissolution features and advise on investigations
Undertake daily inspections of formations, embankments, and cuttings
Analyse geotechnical data to support design and quality reporting
Advise site teams on mitigation and ground improvement measures

What we’re looking for:

Degree in geotechnical / geological engineering or similar
Minimum 2 years site experience in earthworks (exceptional graduates considered)
Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and behaviour of various soil types

Experience with Tier 1 infrastructure or major earthworks projects
Confident in site inspections, reporting, and stakeholder liaison
