This position is responsible for providing success, transition, academic advising, recruitment, and retention services to promote student success.
Responsibilities- Recruitment, admission, and advisement of Dual Enrollment students. (60%)
- Process admission for dual enrollment students through the use of the Banner Processing System.
- Provide academic advisement, registration, and orientation to dual enrollment students.
- Provide academic support through administration of testing options.
- Serve as a liaison for local and state stakeholders; attend community events to promote the University
¿ s Dual Enrollment program. - Process dual enrollment funding applications.
- Coordinate the delivery of course resources with Auxiliary Services.
- Provides administrative support for international student services. (10%)
- Serve as a university Designated School Official (DSO) for International Student Engagement and provide support to the PDSO, as needed.
- Maintain and supervise the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) for data entry and collection system; ensure the system is current and accurate.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management Division and Department of Athletics on the recruitment and retention of F-1 Student Athletes.
- Provide immigration information to potential and continuing international students, monitor and track student immigration status, and provide documentation of immigration updates.
- Maintain data and generate reports on a semesterly basis.
- Function as a liaison between student and related local, state, and federal agencies concerning international student issues.
- Collaborate with campus and community resources to provide access to community services and resources.
- Provide SEVIS registration guidance to students and meet regularly with International students.
- Assist with the on-campus job opportunities for international students with Human Resources and Accounting Services.
- Facilitate the J-1 traveling Scholar Program in coordination with Georgia Rotary Student Program and the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the international studies website and supporting forms.
- Provides academic advisement to students.
- Creates and modifies schedules for incoming freshman.
- Assists students with course selection, registration, and schedule revision.
- Monitors and tracks advisee progress.
- Maintains correspondence with advisees concerning appointments and other matters.
- Refers students to campus and community resources.
- Processes drop/add forms, withdrawal forms, registration, name changes, and changes in programs of study.
- Develops and supports procedures for identifying at-risk students.
- Assists students with changes in majors.
- Work collaboratively with Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and other related to departments to provide holistic student advisement and support.
- Collaborate with university constituent groups to advance Momentum Approach priorities.
- Responsible for student retention through intentional outreach initiatives, intrusive advising, and academic partnerships.
- Including but not limited to new student orientation, STORM Day, registration days, and Parent/Family programs.
- Keeps abreast of current best practices related to First-Year Experience and academic advising.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge and implements continuous best practices related to student development, diversity and inclusion, and student engagement.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of federal, state, USG, and university policies and regulations as they relate to student engagement and success.
- Serve as an instructor for a student success course when necessary.
- Bachelor
¿ s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required;
Master
¿ s degree preferred. - More than two years of related experience required.
- Experience with Banner and/or Degree Works is preferred.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of F-1 Visa Policies.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
