Your day-to-day as a Public Works Technician I (Water)As a Full-Time Public Works Technician I (Water) with American Fork City, you will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing water system flows and controls. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the maintenance of our essential water systems, and ensuring the reliability of the community's water supply. You will actively maintain and restore wells, booster stations, and re-circulators, contributing to the efficiency and functionality of our infrastructure.
Additionally, you will oversee the installation of new or repaired water lines, ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to be hands‑on in safeguarding the water services that our residents depend on, exemplifying our commitment to a sustainable future.
To excel as a Full-Time Public Works Technician I (Water) with American Fork City, candidates must possess a solid foundation of skills and qualifications. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary, along with at least three years of experience in the maintenance of water system flows and controls, as well as trouble‑shooting various water leak issues. Physical stamina is key, as the role requires the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Proficiency in operating heavy mechanized equipment, including dump trucks, pumps, chain saws, and torches, is critical for successful job performance. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong problem‑solving abilities and effective communication skills, enabling them to work seamlessly with team members and contribute to the overall success of our water maintenance initiatives.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Three years of experience in the maintenance of water system flows and controls
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs
- Skill in operating heavy mechanized equipment i.e. dump truck, backhoe, trencher, pumps, chainsaw, torches etc.
- Understanding of the SCADA system preferred
