What’s your day like?As a Public Works Technician III - Water Meter Specialist, your day-to-day expectations include conducting thorough meter readings for culinary water and pressurized irrigation systems with accuracy and efficiency. Regular meter inspections, identifying potential issues, and recommending repairs or replacements are part of your routine. You will collaborate with fellow technicians to enhance operations. You may participate in training on advanced meter technologies and assist with troubleshooting and resolving customer inquiries regarding water service.
This role helps maintain the integrity of our water utilities and supports the community.
- Conduct thorough meter readings for culinary water and pressurized irrigation systems.
- Perform regular inspections of water meters and identify issues; recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
- Collaborate with fellow technicians to improve overall operations.
- Participate in training sessions for advanced meter technologies.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving customer inquiries regarding water service.
- Maintain accuracy of data collection and support the integrity of water utilities.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
- Experience with meter reading equipment and systems such as SCADA, GIS, Customer Portal Beacon, and CMMS.
- Good communication abilities for collaborating with team members and addressing customer inquiries.
- Physical stamina for outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and water utility principles.
- Proactive and forward-thinking mindset to adapt and innovate.
