About

This Role

The Director of Applied AI will oversee the vision, execution, and development of AI solutions for our products. This leadership role will be a player/coach who leads and organizes teams of data labelers, machine learning engineers, MLOps engineers, and data scientists to drive the development of cutting‑edge AI technologies. You will work closely with product and senior leadership to align AI initiatives with LVT business goals and ensure the successful implementation of AI technologies that deliver significant value.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership:
    Work with product leaders to develop and execute an AI technical strategy that aligns with the company’s goals, and help further define that vision.
  • Team Management:
    Mentor a team of data scientists, machine learning, and ML Ops engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Team Performance:
    Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for AI projects, ensuring measurable business value.
  • Model Performance:
    Define metrics and benchmarks for model performance, monitoring outputs and making necessary adjustments.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with executive leaders, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver end‑to‑end AI products and services.
  • Research and Innovation:
    Stay current with the latest AI research and encourage exploration of new techniques and technologies.
  • Data Strategy and Governance:
    Ensure high‑quality, reliable data is used for training AI models, implementing governance best practices.
  • Compliance and Ethics:
    Ensure AI model development adheres to industry standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Communicate AI strategy, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders, including the executive team and board.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years of applied AI and machine learning, and a proven track record of successfully developing and deploying AI models in production environments.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data preprocessing, model evaluation, and deployment; proficiency in Python, C++, or Java; experience with Tensor Flow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, LoRA, LLMs, VLMs, and CLIP.
  • Leadership:
    Strong team management skills and the ability to inspire high‑performing teams; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic Thinking:
    Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make data‑driven decisions, developing and executing strategic plans that meet business needs.
