Maintenance Worker, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

Shift: 7 am – 3 pm or 3 pm – 11 pm.

The Maintenance Worker 2 performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

• Assist in installing new equipment.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor and other personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Follow the preventive maintenance schedule.
• Train Level 1 Maintenance personnel.
• Perform machine repair and installation: replace motors, rebuild gearboxes, run threaded piping, run weld piping, overhaul pumps, replace packing shaft seals on cookers and pumps, weld, and use cutting torch.
• Conduct daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment.
• Diagnose and replace equipment parts with minimal direction.
• Diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installation.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Use assigned personal protective equipment and observe all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Attend scheduled safety meetings and serve on the Safety Committee as requested.
• Perform all additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1–2+ years of demonstrated work experience that includes:
• Operating a forklift.
• Performing welding and piping.

• Vocational school training preferred.
• 2 years' experience with rendering or similar equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
• Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick, including vertical and overhead welding.
• Proficiency in control power electric.
• General mechanical aptitude; able to diagnose and repair problems with motors and other equipment.
• Strong math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.

• Frequently required to push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
• May need to travel to other plants for construction projects.
• May need to work nights, weekends, and be on-call as required.

Job functions are carried out in a rendering facility that requires tolerance for wet or slippery floors, and high heat or cold temperatures.
