RN / Registered Nurse / PICU / FT / Varied
Northwest Texas Healthcare System is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at its 495-bed facility serving Amarillo, TX.
As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will provide safe, competent nursing care in accordance with facility policies, standards, and a patient-centered philosophy.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and evaluate an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education
- Maintain professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing communicate appropriate resources, as needed
- Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees
- Assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions
- Comply with appropriate and approved standards, as outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies
- Comply with safety and injury prevention standards to minimize risk to self, co‑workers, patients, and visitors. The concepts of the patient centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Must successfully pass any pre‑employment assessment(s)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment
- Current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in Texas
- De‑escalation training within 90 days of hire; no ongoing requirement
- Ongoing Als compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility
- PALS certification within 3 months of hire and maintain throughout employment
- Chemotherapy class within 12 months of hire and repeat every 2 years
