ResponsibilitiesThe Clinical Supervisor‑Nursing ensures that nursing staff provide quality care and efficient patient flow. Responsibilities include communication, staffing, operational tasks, and acting as liaison among nursing, physicians, hospital associates, patients, and visitors.
- Coordinates and monitors the implementation of patient flow processes ensuring operational efficiency and standardization of practice.
- Ensures safe, quality patient care through appropriate allocation of resources to ensure effective patient flow.
- Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities in the absence of the Charge Nurse.
- Assists the Director with operational and quality related tasks as assigned.
- Maintains clinical/leadership expertise and fosters commitment, pride, and service excellence in staff by promoting a positive work environment.
- Demonstrates leadership in the provision of unit services through collaborative processes designed to integrate services/functions throughout the department and NWTH.
- Participates in and supports processes to measure, assess, and improve performance of management, clinical, and/or support services in accordance with regulatory agency standards.

- Graduate of an accredited or NLN‑approved RN program. BSN preferred, or must enroll in program and complete within 2 years.
- Current licensure/permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days, maintained throughout employment.
- Certifications required by the department must be obtained in the required time frames.
- Minimum of 2 years leadership experience preferred.
- De‑escalation training within 90 days of hire.
- Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility.
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – PALS within 3 months of hire, maintained throughout employment.
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – NRP within 3 months of hire and maintained; STABLE within 6 months of hire; repeat renewal class every 2 years until 10 years.
