SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Manager, Maintenance Mechanic B is responsible for proficient maintenance to include building and production manufacturing assets in safe, sanitary, and efficient condition. Also responsible for staying up to date on new products, equipment, and technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, gas or air required for operations)
- Knowledge and application of programable logic controller (PLC’s) & micro switches, in relationship to high-speed packaging equipment
- Troubleshoot, repair or replace variable frequency drive (VFD)
- Readily available for emergency repairs/breakdown situations while maintaining communication to ensure the efficiency of production
- Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Perform preventive maintenance (i.e., conduct computerized preventive maintenance check-ups or read Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and data)
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with the required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Follow all required work safe practices, lockout-tag out requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Proficient in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and sanitation protocols
- Collaborating with production and quality teams
- Familiarity with Food Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department Agriculture (USDA) and other food safety regulations
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
- High School Diploma required, or General Education Diploma (GED) formal engineering/maintenance training or Advanced Technology Certification preferred
- Minimum five (5) years' experience maintaining a variety of technical equipment
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems, gas systems, liquid propane, boilers, and refrigeration is strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of wire welding
- Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of chemical handling and proper usage
- Understanding of the water reverse osmosis (RO) process
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Advanced math skills required
- Required to maneuver plant and warehouse work spaces which involve:
- Frequently standing, walking, sitting, talking, or hearing,work around loud machinery and moving parts
- Continually utilize hand and finger dexterity, continually exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, exposed to outside weather conditions, and push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds safely
