Position summary:

Under the general supervision of the Technical Coordinator, the Tech - Medical (ASCP/REG) assumes responsibility for performing waived and non‑waived complexity analysis of patient specimens for diagnostic purposes and related procedures in the areas of assigned responsibility. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the Department, but also the integration of the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System.

The Tech - Medical (ASCP/REG) supports an organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards with all customer groups.

• Practices the profession of clinical laboratory science in the area(s) of assigned responsibility according to accepted standards of practice as outlined by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), CLIA ’88, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and other regulatory agencies as appropriate, and according to the approved policies and procedures of the organization, department, and/or the laboratory Medical Director.
• Actively participates in the structure, review and revision of policies and procedures.
• Monitors quality control data and instrument maintenance.
• Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance in areas of assigned responsibility.
• Performs clinical laboratory procedures in any one or combination of specialty areas of the laboratory optimizing the efficiency and quality of pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical laboratory procedures.

  Baccalaureate degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science required. In lieu of a Baccalaureate degree, employee may qualify with 15 years or more experience in a CLIA certified laboratory.
