Front Desk Attendant

Position

Description

Performs routine manual and/or clerical work in a related area. Work may involve strenuous physical activity and/or exposure to the outdoors. Work is performed under supervision and is evaluated through observation and results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for greeting patients and visitors warmly and professionally.
  • Answer phone calls.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Keep the front desk and waiting area clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Complete annual HIPAA & TTUHSC Institutional Compliance trainings.
  • Other duties assigned as needed by supervisor.
Required Qualifications

Ability to read and write equivalent to completion of the 10th grade plus one year experience.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and appointment‑scheduling software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and staff. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
  • Problem‑solving skills to handle patient concerns or issues. Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff.
Position Specific Qualifications
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional.
  • Experience in a medical office or similar environment preferred. Proficiency with office software and scheduling systems.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Reliable, professional, and patient‑focused demeanor.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Responsible for assisting patients and visitors in the completion of Release of Information forms.
