UHS is currently recruiting for a Chief Executive Officer at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX. Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a 404-bed acute care facility and medical center serving Amarillo and the surrounding region, including an Advanced (Level III) Trauma emergency department treating approximately 57,000 patients annually. Position Summary: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading the overall strategic plan for the hospital and developing and implementing strategies to position the hospital to achieve corporate goals and market the facility’s services. The candidate will have a track record of leading challenging strategic annual plans and budgets with a focus on superior patient care, efficient quality acute care operations, and a commitment to the community, patients and hospital staff.

Essential Duties:

  • Leads hospital senior team and participates in medical staff and governance strategic planning sessions for assigned hospitals.
  • Meets regularly with hospital leadership to review current financial performance, evaluate forecasts, and ensure timely interventions.
  • Ensures consistent compliance with UHS quality, risk, financial, human resources and other expectations in line with UHS directives.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve overall patient satisfaction and commits to service excellence.

Qualifications
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of acute care hospital and health care management methods, financial management practices and current market trends locally and regionally.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance and certification standards such as JCAHO.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and executive management skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse relationships among board members, physicians, management, employee groups and the community.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, operations, and strategic needs at the facility level.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
  • MBA, MHA or related degree from an accredited program required.
  • 5–8 years of acute hospital CEO experience.
