Position:Music Therapist (BM) Position Summary
A Board-Certified Music Therapist with strong leadership abilities, communication, and problem-solving skills who, with minimum supervision, coordinates interventions with other members of the treatment team to meet patient needs in a quality, cost-effective manner. The Music Therapist provides age-appropriate music therapy groups and establishes behavioral treatment goals consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the Northwest Texas Healthcare Systems Behavioral Health Hospital.
The Music Therapist supports an organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. The Music Therapist reports to the Director of Clinical Services.
Designs and provides music therapy interventions based on therapeutic goals to address patient needs, such as using music for self-care, adjusting to life changes, improving cognitive functioning, boosting self-esteem, communicating, or controlling impulses.
Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary treatment team to establish goals or objectives for music therapy treatment, considering patient needs, capabilities, interests, overall therapeutic program, coordination of treatment, or length of treatment.
Documents evaluations, treatment plans, case summaries, progress notes, or other reports related to individual patients.
Observes, monitors, and documents patient reactions, progress, and responses to music therapy treatments.
Directs and provides daily operations and activities of the Behavioral Health Therapeutic Alternative services.
The applicant must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients. The position must attend and participate in weekly treatment plan meetings.
