Responsibilities- Delivers food trays to patients’ rooms, including pouring beverages, removing plastic covering, and setting the tray so patients can eat.
- Checks patient trays before leaving the kitchen area to ensure all ordered items are present; no more than one error per day is accepted.
- Gathers and delivers floor stock, rotates stock when storing in the refrigerator, and discards any outdated products.
- Washes dishes, pans, and utensils for patients, the cafeteria, and catering.
- Sanitizes patient carts daily.
- Empties trash in the food service area.
- Ensures the Dietary Department meets state, Medicare, the Joint Commission, and other regulations.
- Regularly attends and actively participates in department meetings.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- High school graduate or GED preferred.
- Must successfully complete the pre‑employment assessment.
- Preference for completion of Step One of the Certified Dietary Manager course, The Food Service Worker.
- Must read and comprehend.
- Typing and basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to communicate with staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
- Ability to remain calm under stress.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, lifting (10‑30 lb), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing or sitting.
- Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurement).
- Will be exposed to cold when entering refrigerators and freezers, as well as fumes from chemicals and cooking odors.
- Potential hazards include cuts from knives and meat slicers, burns from cooking surfaces, and chemical fumes.
