Behavioral Health Technician / No Degree Position Summary
Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, house supervisor, and charge nurse, attends to patient direct care needs and performs tasks as delegated. Assists in delivering treatment, safety, and activities of daily living as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Performs duties assigned of observation rounding, medical procedures, leads topic specific groups, manages milieu, trains new employees, documents, and safety rounds.

- Seek direction or clarification from Supervisor when necessary.
- Treat patients with respect according to patient rights and responsibilities.
- Communicate in a positive, compassionate and professional manner with patients, staff and visitors.
- Check all mail and correspondence and respond to requests in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate proper Infection Control procedures by consistently using standard precautions.
- Comply with local, state, federal and JC standards and guidelines.
- Adhere to safety policy and procedures to promote safe work practices.
- Present a neat, professional appearance consistent with the hospital dress code.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
- Handle with Care certification current.
- Attend 80% of departmental staff meetings.
- Attend required in‑service trainings.
- Show cultural competence by awareness of cultural differences and willingness to adjust.

- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment.
- Must possess one of the following: 2 years’ experience providing patient care, EMT certification, Medical Assistant certification, High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, sit, stand, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift and move about in work area and throughout hospital to accomplish tasks.
