Position:
Tech – Physical Therapy Tech

POSITION SUMMARY:

The staff Tech – Physical Therapy functions under the direct supervision of the director, supervisor, physical medicine lead, staff therapists, and assistants and when appropriate through a lead technician. The Tech – Physical Therapy is responsible for preparing treatment areas, cleaning treatment areas, positioning patients, procurement of inventory of supplies, transporting, positioning and, in general, assisting patients, therapists and assistants in the successful completion of the treatment plan.

The technician may also be assigned routine clerical support tasks to support the patient care process.

Job Duties /Responsibilities

Provides patient care services to patients of all ages from neonate to geriatric including:

  • Transports patients to and from Physical Medicine
  • Prepares patient for prescribed treatment and assists professional staff with patient treatment
  • Communicates with patient, family, caregivers, significant other and members of the healthcare team to promote maximum benefit of care
  • Maintains hydrotherapy areas and schedules and assures that appropriate inventories are maintained for wound care
  • Obtains equipment, materials and supplies from storage areas or appropriate department, and prepares them for use
  • Maintains the department in a clean and orderly condition

Qualifications Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Ability to read, write and converse in English
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others
