Position Summary

Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, house supervisor, and charge nurse, attends to patient’s direct care needs and performs tasks as delegated. Assists in delivering treatment, safety, and activities of daily living as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Performs duties assigned of observation rounding, medical procedures, leads topic specific groups, manages milieu, training new employees, documentation, and safety rounds.

  • Skills Day.
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • Handle With Care certification current.
  • Attends 80% of departmental staff meetings.
  • Attends required in-service trainings.
  • Demonstrate proper Infection Control procedures by consistently using standard precautions.
  • Present a neat, professional appearance consistent with the hospital dress code.
  • Comply with local, state, federal and JC standards and guidelines.
  • Adhere to safety policy and procedures to promote safe work practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures specific to position/department.
  • Maintain proper boundaries when interacting with patients and their families and co-workers.
  • Seek direction or clarification from Supervisor when necessary.
  • Treat patients with respect according to patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Communicate in a positive, compassionate and professional manner with patients, staff and visitors.
  • Check all mail and correspondence and respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate “cultural competence” by awareness of cultural differences and the impact of one’s own personal and professional values and attitudes on the values and attitudes of others, and willingness to adjust to the cultural differences of patients and families, and co-worker when working with them.
  • Comply with hospital attendance policy.

Qualifications

Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. Must be obtained prior to providing patient care.

Must Possess One Of The Following
  • 2 years’ experience providing patient care.
  • EMT Certification.
  • Medical Assistant Certification.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, sit, stand, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, and move about in work area and throughout hospital to accomplish tasks; finger, pick or type, and grasp.
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken work, conveying information to others in audible, accurate and on occasion quick manner.
  • Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Must be able to address and prioritize multiple task demands within established time frames.
