Job description notes that the position is part of a multi-disciplinary behavioral health team providing direct patient care, observation, and support under supervision.
Responsibilities- Attend to patient direct care needs and perform tasks as delegated by the Director of Nursing, house supervisor, and charge nurse.
- Assist in delivering treatment, safety, and activities of daily living as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Observation rounding, medical procedures, leading topic-specific groups, managing milieu, training new employees, documentation, and safety rounds.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
- Handle with Care certification current.
- Attend 80% of departmental staff meetings and required in-service trainings.
- Demonstrate proper infection control procedures using standard precautions.
- Present a neat, professional appearance in line with hospital dress code.
- Comply with local, state, federal and JC standards and guidelines; adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of department policies and procedures; maintain professional boundaries with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Seek direction from Supervisor when necessary; communicate positively and with compassion to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Respond to requests in a timely manner; manage mail and correspondence as applicable.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and adjust to cultural differences of patients, families, and co-workers.
- Comply with hospital attendance policy.

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
- 2 years’ experience providing patient care
- EMT Certification
- Medical Assistant Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stoop, kneel, sit, stand, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, and move about the work area; dexterity for finger use and grasping.
- Ability to express and exchange ideas verbally in audible and accurate manner.
- Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within established time frames.
- Ability to concentrate amid distractions; meet deadlines; flexible work hours.
- Maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations when confronted.
- Maintain therapeutic boundaries with patients during treatment and after discharge.
- Ability to assist with restraint of patients when necessary for safety.
