Role: CT/Radiology Technologist - Amarillo/Lubbock Region

Note: This description reflects the Radiology Technologist responsibilities in the Emergency Center setting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies of NEC.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures.
  • Explains to patients the benefits and risks of procedures and exams.
  • Prepares patients for examinations (e.g., contrast, proper IV placements, checking labs).
  • Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all appropriate forms related to prepared exams (contrast, extravasations, pregnancy, etc.).
  • Maintains safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology / CT procedures performed in the Radiology Department.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology to apply radiology principles and exposure methods to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of radiology/CT equipment functioning to provide minor repair and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in the utilization of radiological/lab equipment in the ER.
  • Uses proper body mechanics when moving patients and equipment to prevent injury.
  • Applies radiology safety principles in position responsibilities.
  • Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance when needed.
  • Communicates problems/concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Provides safe transportation of patients to and from the patient care unit.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Experience:

    At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists;
    Current State licensure;
    Current BCLS Certification. Texas requirements: ARRT (R) (CT) and TDH/TMB;
    Colorado and Rhode Island requirements: ARRT (R) (CT).
Language/Math/Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to present information effectively to customers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Ability to perform basic math and interpret data and graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
