Role: CT/Radiology Technologist - Amarillo/Lubbock Region

Note: This description reflects the Radiology Technologist responsibilities in the Emergency Center setting.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies of NEC.
- Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures.
- Explains to patients the benefits and risks of procedures and exams.
- Prepares patients for examinations (e.g., contrast, proper IV placements, checking labs).
- Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all appropriate forms related to prepared exams (contrast, extravasations, pregnancy, etc.).
- Maintains safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Maintains current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology / CT procedures performed in the Radiology Department.
- Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology to apply radiology principles and exposure methods to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
- Possesses basic knowledge of radiology/CT equipment functioning to provide minor repair and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in the utilization of radiological/lab equipment in the ER.
- Uses proper body mechanics when moving patients and equipment to prevent injury.
- Applies radiology safety principles in position responsibilities.
- Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance when needed.
- Communicates problems/concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Provides safe transportation of patients to and from the patient care unit.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology. - Experience:
At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience. - Licenses/Certifications:
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists;
Current State licensure;
Current BCLS Certification. Texas requirements: ARRT (R) (CT) and TDH/TMB;
Colorado and Rhode Island requirements: ARRT (R) (CT).
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively to customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to perform basic math and interpret data and graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
