Job Description

The Senior Industrial Automation Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on‑site services that support process and discrete manufacturing operations. Specifically, services related to evaluating customers’ installed Rockwell Automation hardware, software, and networked equipment. The Technician supports customers’ systems needs, including troubleshooting and system modernization, and provides support for customers in various ways, including programming, drive startups, and reliability improvement. Supporting products that are deployed or designed in Rockwell software platforms such as RsLogix 5, 500, 5000, Studio 5000, or Factory Talk applications.

Responsibilities
  • Execute documented procedures on site at customer facilities.
  • Perform onsite collection of current installed base through site walk‑through and use of data collection tools in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate core competency in troubleshooting Rockwell Automation products and associated manufacturing technology.
  • Communicate needs and issues with management to avoid problems before they arise.
  • Manage time so that scheduling issues do not arise.
  • Work positively in a team‑based environment that is in continuous movement.
  • Act as a representative of Rexel while performing services on customers’ equipment and applications.
  • Develop relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Present findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Articulate the value of services offerings to customers during the lifecycle of the engagement.
  • Work with customers to determine their problems, needs, and goals, thereby identifying opportunities for product and services that may be outside the scope of the original engagement.
  • Document work activities in an appropriate, professional report format.
  • Assist in the clarification and resolution of customer issues.
  • Mentor, train, and coach other Field Service Technicians. May act as a Team Lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to industrial Lockout‑Tag‑Out standards and best practices.
  • Exposure to industrial Arc Flash standards and best practices.
  • Exposure to Industrial Control Systems including PLC, HMI/SCADA, plant historian, motor control, motion control, and related technology and applications (Rockwell or comparable platforms).
  • High School or GED – Required.
  • Associate’s Degree – Preferred.
  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree – Preferred.
  • Associate's of Science Degree in Engineering or Technology or technological training preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technology‑driven degree.
  • Ability to read prints and documentation regarding a machine or process.
  • Ability to manage time between jobs and while on the job during a project or other engagement.
  • Ability to gather data for future projects that management can use to create a scope document for the proposal.
  • Ability to drive utilization to target goals set by management.
  • Ability to work with sales on multiple customer engagements.
  • Ability to respond promptly to requests for support.
  • Ability to learn on the job and always improve skills and abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing demands.
  • Examples of being self‑motivated and able to work independently.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to mentor, train, and coach peers.
