Open Until Filled After the 5 Day Mandatory Posting Window PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provide psycho-educational assessments of students with disabilities while collaborating with staff, students, and parents toprovide support and direct services for students with disabilities who are experiencing emotional/behavioral problems.

This position is supplemental to locally funded positions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Fulfill all internship requirements under the supervision of an LSSP who has a minimum of three years of experience providing psychological services within the public school system without supervision. 22 TAC §465.2
  • Apply techniques in assessment, intervention, behavior management, and consultation to children of all ages, needs, and populations in the public school setting.
  • Document all activities and hours of the internship in combination with supervisor signatures in accordance with program and Board requirements.
  • Complete the LSSP internship in one year (202 days). [TSBEP Board Rule 465.38 (4)]
QUALIFICATIONS

Hold a current LSSP trainee status letter stating they meet the requirements set forth by the training program and the rules for school psychologists as defined by the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP).

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to administer in-depth psycho-educational assessments

Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, & learning theories

Ability to interpret data and solve problems of different complexities

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

WORK CONDITIONS

Tools/Equipment Used:
Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment

Posture:
Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion:
Frequent walking, prolonged use of computer

Lifting:
May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non-ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours

Environment:
Exposure to biological hazards; requires district-wide travel, some statewide and out of state travel

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to problem solve, interpret data and acquire and apply new skills and knowledge; ability to resolve conflicts; ability to adapt and be flexible in multiple environments

Regular attendance is an essential function

Minimum Experience

Experience working with and assessing students who have emotional disturbances and/or autism.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Administer in-depth psycho-educational assessments to students referred to special education
  • Interpret data from assessments and write reports for students referred to special education
  • Consult with parents concerning the behavioral needs of their student
  • Provide behavioral strategies to staff concerning their students
  • Serve as a member of ARD committees in developing behavioral strategies
  • Provide psychological consultations
  • Provide staff development
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics
