This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Spanish - Moore County Campus who will be all-in on our mission and who will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses in the assigned discipline. Teaching responsibilities include instruction in classroom, online and technology-supported environments, as well as timely preparation for assigned courses and the development of instructional materials that support student learning and success.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required:

Master's Degree in Spanish, or a Master's Degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in Spanish.

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred:
Previous post-secondary teaching experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

* Deliver effective instruction, including facilitating classroom learning, directing projects, and assisting students with coursework, research, and internships as appropriate.

* Plan, develop, and present organized and engaging learning experiences in accordance with approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.

* Teach day and/or evening courses as assigned.

* Teach off-campus, dual credit, online, and technology-supported courses as required.

* Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in the use of instructional technologies.

* Attend briefings related to procedures, advising, registration, and institutional policies.

* Complete required administrative tasks, including grading, performance evaluations, and reporting, in a timely and accurate manner.

* Participate in department, division, and college meetings as assigned or required.

* Perform other work-elated duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

* Understanding and application of learner-centered and high-impact instructional practices.

* Proficiency in computer operation and multimedia instructional technologies, with a willingness to learn new software and instructional tools.

* Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently, and collaboratively as a member of a team.

* Ability to interact with students and colleagues in a professional and respectful manner.

* Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, including when addressing challenging situations, and to provide exemplary customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

* Ability to learn and adhere to college policies and procedures.

* Ability to teach day and/or evening courses as required.

* Ability to teach off-campus, dual credit, online, and technology-supported courses as required.

Amarillo College Pay Grades, please review the TEACHING OVERLOAD COMPENSATION and ADJUNCT FACULTY COMPENSATION chart to view the salary pay scale. This is based on your highest level of education.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Working Environment:
This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
