Description
If you are a hard-working, enthusiastic college student looking for an exciting internship in the equine industry, we have an internship opportunity at our AQHA Headquarters in Amarillo, Texas. The Show Department internships are ideal for students pursuing a wide range of careers in the equine industry and event management which can include communications, marketing, business, and much more.
The AQHA Show Department Intern will support the planning, administration, and execution of AQHA’s Championship Shows and related programs. This internship offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, success‑driven environment. The intern will work closely with AQHA staff to assist with scheduling, tracking, reporting, and day‑to‑day operational tasks, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organization, and digital tools.
Applicants must have reliable transportation and must be willing to travel. AQHA internships are paid $15.00/hour.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Show Department staff on the development and execution of activities for AQHA Championship Shows and other events and activities produced by AQHA.
- Assist with data entry, tracking, and maintenance of show-related information
- Create, update, and manage spreadsheets for schedules, participation data, and budgets
- Support preparation of reports, summaries, and presentations for AQHA staff
- Help coordinate show logistics, including timelines, forms, and digital documentation
- Providing administrative support including but not limited to answering phones, processing entries, responding to emails, and other office functions
- Assist with special projects related to show development, exhibitor experience, and process improvement
Specific Knowledge and Skillsets:
- Familiarity with AQHA shows or the equine industry preferred
- Strong computer proficiency
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, working independently and within a team
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, strive to meet challenges with creative problem‑solving
- The ability to intern at AQHA headquarters at least one summer during your college career, though an opportunity for a recurring summer, fall, or spring internship is a possibility.

- To record and preserve the pedigree of the American Quarter Horse while maintaining the integrity of the breed and welfare of its horses.

- Must be available for travel.
