Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Manager of Treasury and Accounting Services to join our team. This role is ideal for a detailed and collaborative professional with supervisory experience. This position oversees cash management, banking relationships, fixed asset accounting, A/P, and billing support. We are looking for an individual who can provide strategic guidance to leadership and foster strong team culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the accounting function by managing accounting staff, supporting the Controller, and other Finance, Accounting, Billing, and Risk leaders.
  • Maintain sufficient detail to support the billing of special transmission facility costs to certain Member Cooperatives (SFA Billing).
  • Oversee the accounting for certain fixed asset accounting including CWIP, AFUDC accruals, depreciation accruals, and retirement accounting.
  • Maintain relationships with banks and lenders including negotiating lines of credit.
  • Monitor cash requirements, maintain sufficient bank balances, initiate treasury-related transactions including market settlements (daily/weekly), purchased power (monthly), and fuel (monthly), and investments in Commercial Paper, CDs, and Select Notes.
  • Supervise the preparation of regulatory reports including the FERC Form 1 and Form 3Q.
  • Provide support as needed for the annual audit of the financial statements and tax return.
  • Provide support and information for regulatory/filing reporting including Rate filing support.
  • Manage Accounts Payable & expense reporting functions.
  • Provide and collaborate with Billing Manager on Accounts Receivable.
  • Provide leadership and recommendations to manager regarding area of accountability issues and needs, prioritization of organizational resources, rates, issues, and interactions.
  • Be an organizational leader to ensure team is motivated and communicated to achieve organizational-wide goals.
  • Manage and lead the Treasury and Accounting Services team to ensure staff is developed and successfully performing the function and positively impacting the GSEC culture.
  • Responsible for communicating and advocating for Treasury and Accounting Services issues and needs to manager including removing obstacles and barriers to meet the team’s needs.
  • Provides support and expertise in all new technologies and external environmental advances in Treasury and Accounting Services to your manager.
  • Provide management and recommendations to manager regarding area of accountability issues and needs, prioritization of organizational resources, and interactions.
  • Accountable for compliance with the Golden Spread Safety Policy including all Safety Procedures and third party and Member contractual obligations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Master’s degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA certification preferred. Certificate of Managerial Accounting may substitute for CPA.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience required.
  • Experience must be progressive and include 3-5 years of experience managing people.
  • Working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Working knowledge of debt covenants and credit analysis.
  • Experience in Cash Management.
