Job SummaryMemorial Hermann is opening Alvin CCC, a brand-new freestanding Emergency Department in Alvin. This is a unique opportunity to deliver safe, high-quality, personalized emergency care in a small community setting with the full support and clinical resources of the Memorial Hermann system. We are seeking a Lead Medical Technologist to join our team.
Schedule:
3-12 hour shifts; 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; rotating weekends.
Position is responsible for daily supervision of assigned laboratory operations including scheduling of staff and processes, ensuring quality, cost efficiencies and patient satisfaction; represents the Laboratory in the absence of the Manager; delivers appropriate patient care according to the age of the patient/population served.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in a Biological Science (equivalency required for foreign education).
Licenses/Certifications: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified CLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) or Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM.
- Five (5) years of experience in the high complexity clinical laboratory in the assigned/specified area and demonstrated leadership skills.
- Completed competency in assigned area within one (1) year of accepting this position.

- Oversees, evaluates, performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and corrective actions according to policy/procedure; evaluates and maintains technical procedures; demonstrates competency for all workstations; writes procedures; shows working knowledge of laboratory information systems.
- Supports system and hospital customer service initiatives; builds relationships and works with customers to implement corrective actions.
- Understands the quality process and utilizes quality techniques; may serve on quality teams and system laboratory service technical teams.
- Serves as a resource to staff; oversees laboratory processes.
- Under the direction of the Department Manager or Lab Director, develops and validates laboratory tests; verifies results; interacts with physicians; may act as in-charge on certain shifts.
- Promotes safe patient care, cost efficiency, and CQI commitments.
- Participates in interview process, contributes to performance discussions, mentors staff, and trains employees on procedures.
- Complies with policies and standards of laboratory services, hospital, and system; adheres to regulatory standards (TJC, FDA CAP, AABB, HCFA, OSHA, CLIA).
- Ensures safety; adheres to budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and service quality.
- Supports professional growth and development; acts as preceptor and mentor.
- Models Memorial Hermann service standards and compassionate care.
