Position: Safety Manager (Transmission & Distribution)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring employee adherence to company safety policies and procedures. This position supports projects throughout designated geographical locations.

Essential Functions
  • Manage on‑going safety program
  • Work with Operations to ensure proper safety staffing
  • Verify fieldwork compliance with federal, state and local regulations, company policy, and industry best practices
  • Audit and provide meaningful feedback, leadership, and guidance to safety engineers
  • Coordinate cross‑training and conduct training as necessary
  • Assist management with methods to improve safety practices and procedures
  • Conduct and report on advance notice and no‑notice inspections, surveys, and evaluations
  • Receive, review, and participate with the development of accident briefs, safety‑related publications, bulletins, and reports
  • Provide technical and professional assistance to eliminate or control unsafe behavior and environmental factors
  • Provide progress reports on safety activities, safety reports, and safety studies
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company‑designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry‑specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
  • Other duties as assigned
ABOUT YOU Qualifications
  • Experience with OSHA record keeping, reporting and Method of Procedure (MOP) writing
  • Experience in job hazard & safety analysis within the transmission and distribution industry
  • Experience in the field of transmission and distribution line construction

    Management experience within a safety role
  • Safety or related technical undergraduate degree (such as CSP)
  • Safety related credentials (e.g., OSHA 501, OTI certifications, etc.)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Experience with Risk Management
  • Effective communicator
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Self‑starter and team player
  • Positive attitude
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of utility and construction safety programs
  • OSHA/DOT related experience
  • OSHA 10, 30, and 500 (Train the Trainer) Certified
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • Knowledge of OSP (OSHA Strategic Partnership)

  • Salary Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
