Duties - Modifies, repairs, and makes replacement parts for standard-type articles such as parachutes, aerial delivery items, and other items of moderate complexity utilizing various sewing machines and other entities.
- Lays out patterns with a number of pieces that must be matched; cuts out parts from single or Multiple layers of material; and makes adjustments to assembled articles to assure desired fit.
- Operates, cleans and performs operator maintenance on lightweight, medium, and heavy-duty sewingmachines.
-Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* May be required to attend various types of training (TDY) for fabrication repair for extended periods of time.
* IAW SA-2020-25 This position requires a physical/medical examination. The physical/medical requirements of this position as determined are: requires standing at worktables to measure, mark, and cut out materials;
* and sitting for long periods of time while operating sewing machines or doing hand sewing. Considerable stooping, bending, kneeling, and continually uses arms, hands, and fingers in pulling and positioning materials, sewing, and using
* tools such as shears and electric knives is required. May occasionally work in cramped areas, on ladders and scaffolds, and overhead. Frequently lifts, drags and/or carries items that weigh 30 to 75 pounds, and occasionally lifts heavier items
* with assistance. May require the use of hoists and wenches.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3100 Fabric and Leather Work Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a FABRIC WORKER without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a variety of materials including most regularly used fabrics and materials such as wool, nylon, canvas, webbing, leather, vinyl, fiberglass, rubberized cloth, various threads, tapes, lines, and hardware.
2. Knowledge of arithmetic and fractions to calculate pattern measurements (e.g., cover measurements plus allowances for seams and pleats). 3. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
4. Skill to lay out patterns with a number of pieces that must be matched; cut out parts from single or multiple layers of material; make adjustments to assembled articles to assure desired fit; determine necessary alterations; and make extensive…
