Duties (Continued from Summary):
- hazardous materials as a first responder to protect persons, property, or the environment. (Duties):
* Performs hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis; performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great.
* Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities.
* Performs rescue of personnel and a variety of first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepare the victim(s) for transport to a medical facility.
* Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities. Performs functional tests and inspections. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and housekeeping duties associated with assigned facilities.
* Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program.
* Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
* The employee is required to work a 72 hour week on a 24 hour on/24 hour offbasis which includes weekends and holidays. May be subject to recall.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
* The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
* Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
* Will be required to work the Fire Alarm and Communications Center (FACC). Incumbent will have one year from date of hire to receive Telecommunicator I certification and two years to receive Telecommunicator 11 certification.
* Will be subject to work rotation coverage at multiple fire stations.
* IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
* Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
* Incumbent will maintain a current automated system logon for the purpose of conducting applicable fire department administrative business processes. Qualifications (Continued from Conditions of Employment):
* May be assigned Government Purchase Card (GPC) duties.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
