ResponsibilitiesThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Tasks include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be engaged in various tasks across store areas as business needs require, and may perform additional tasks in specific situations to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers with eye contact and a smile; thanks Customers at checkout.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to service calls; handles Customer issues courteously and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) policies and proper processing of MOS merchandise; notifies Store Leadership to review and approve disposals.
- Follows all policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, charges, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tenders.

- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts:
Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
