Position: Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $1,976 per week

  • Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

  • Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
  • NIHSS Certification
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required
Summary

A Step‑down Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units, requiring frequent monitoring, specialized nursing interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Work Functions
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, focusing on cardiac care.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
  • Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
  • Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisors or physicians of patient status.
  • Respond to life‑saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
  • Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
  • Initiate patient education plans, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients and client information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency with PC skills.
  • Physical Abilities – remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Interpersonal Skills – work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Technical/Motor Skills – grasp and perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about during procedures.
  • Mental Requirements – cope with frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines, work under close supervision if needed, handle irregular activity schedules, maintain continuous concentration.
  • Sensory – possess visual acuity and effective communication.
