. This is a full‑time, outward‑focused position in an outpatient cardiology office under a physician‐supervised model.
Monday‑Friday daylight, no weekends or on‑call.

AP onboarding program and mentoring by fellow APPs.
This department is a busy cardiology practice focused on interventional cardiology and structural heart, but the majority of the work is general cardiology. You will work alongside a robust APP group – 12 total within the Altoona HVI – and report to an APP supervisor.

The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The APP is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.
The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision.
- Apply basic professional practice knowledge and skills appropriate for the practice setting. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in documentation. Demonstrate critical thinking in all areas of professional practice. Learn to incorporate acceptable standards of professional practice as well as business unit and health system goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Formulate a plan of care that considers individual patient needs.
Demonstrate initiative and seek formal and informal opportunities to improve clinical practice. Seek guidance and ask questions to continuously improve professional practice.
