Stabilization of a critical newborn to transfer; neonatal resuscitation;
Intubation;
Lumbar puncture;
Peripheral venous access;
Umbilical catheter placement;
Circumcision;
Thoracentesis; CPAP supervision

JOB INFORMATION
Typical Day: round daily in newborn nursey; average of 6 patients; round in level 2 nursery average of 4 patients; round in pediatric inpatient unit average of 3 patients. Be on call for 24hrs a day for deliveries. UPMC Altoona has a 22-bassinet level 1 well infant nursery, an 8-bed level 2 neonatal
intermediate care unit, and a 12-bed inpatient pediatric unit.
Provider will work solo
Other Specialties Onsite: OB-GYNs, in-house anesthesiology: MD and CRNA. Multiple medical and surgical specialists in-house or on-call. UPMC
Typical Cases Seen:
Majority was well infants, routine delivery, however there is a level 2 nursery for newborns requiring a higher level of care.
