Lab Associate II

Overview

Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL has a full-time Lab Associate II position. In this Phlebotomy role, you will collect blood and non-blood specimens, processing, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, maintain a chain of custody and prevent contamination. You will also ensure phlebotomy supplies are sterilized, functional, and adequately stocked. Must be able to work independently in an outpatient setting.

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy, ensure proper patient identification, and maintain positive patient interaction, ensuring proper collection and specimen integrity. May work in outpatient lab, in physician office, or off-campus patient service center.
• Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and proficiently handle all specimens received in the lab.
• Coordinate a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuations in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
