Required Experience and Skills
  • A strong commitment to the mission of Sul Ross State University.
  • At least two years of experience in enrollment services (Admissions, Financial Aid, or Recruitment) in higher education or with college students.
  • Ability to drive and/or travel as needed.
  • Public speaking experience with large and small groups.
  • General understanding of college admissions guidelines and procedures.
  • Proficiency in PC operations and common software such as Banner, imaging systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Experience planning and executing recruitment events.
  • Ability to manage stress, work independently and collaboratively, and maintain professional customer service.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • One year of direct experience in university admissions or enrollment management.
  • Alumni status at Sul Ross State University.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.
Primary Responsibilities

Meets annual enrollment goals set by the Executive Director for Enrollment Management and the Director of Admissions by actively managing the enrollment funnel and recruitment process within the El Paso region. Serves as the primary liaison for Sul Ross State University (SRSU) at the El Paso Leadership Academy (EPLA) and represents SRSU at recruitment events throughout El Paso.

  • Manages the El Paso recruitment territory, marketing university programs to prospective students and key stakeholders.
  • Provides on‑site support at EPLA for dual credit, undergraduate admissions, and other inquiries.
  • Plans, schedules, and participates in college fairs, school visits, community events, and virtual sessions across El Paso (50–65% travel).
  • Conducts strategic outreach and follow‑up via in‑person visits, phone calls, virtual meetings, direct mail, and email.
  • Maintains consistent communication to encourage student applications and enrollment.
  • Guides prospective applicants and families on admissions and basic financial aid information.
  • Works with Admissions Operations and EPLA staff to ensure efficient processing of student documents and accurate records in the University CRM.
  • Travels to the SRSU Alpine campus monthly for team meetings, training, and coordination.
  • Cross‑trained in the full enrollment process to provide flexible event coverage.
  • Participates in ongoing training and professional development (including evenings or weekends). Provides an event or out‑of‑office schedule to EPLA.
  • Adheres to FERPA privacy rules and maintains confidentiality.
  • Prioritizes personal safety and the safety of others.

Non‑Essential – Serves as a backup to other University Recruiters and participates in college‑wide events as needed.

Supervision

Receives direct supervision from the Director of Admissions;
Assistant Director of Admissions as needed.

Working Conditions

Position is exempt from overtime. Requires a valid driver’s license and personal transportation. Working hours may include evenings, holidays, or weekends, and occasional overnight travel throughout Texas.
