Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Diesel Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The Diesel Technician II continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.
A successful Diesel Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.

Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including Electrical, Brake, Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various systems and components including Electrical, Brake, Cooling, Air conditioning, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments; road test vehicles to verify proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Work with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards and upload photos and notes to Repair Orders using company devices and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' related experience. Other combinations (e.g., higher degree/certification or 5 years' related experience) may be considered.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
