Summary

The Veterinarian is responsible for evaluating all patients for surgery, performing a brief nose to tail exam, overseeing anesthesia, performing sterilization and some soft tissue surgeries, and ensuring all animals are safe for discharge. The veterinarian is also responsible for providing excellent customer service. Our veterinary team follows the standards and protocols as set forth by the ASPCA Humane Alliance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations on all surgical candidates
  • Perform an average of 25–35 high quality, high volume spay/neuter surgical procedures per spay/neuter clinic day
  • Diagnose and treat post-surgical medical complications
  • Practice Fear Free animal handling to minimize fear, anxiety and stress for patients in care
  • Follow up on all patients 1-3 days post op to ensure appropriate recovery, answer questions, provide support as needed.
  • Be familiar with infectious diseases, including their prevention and steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
  • Administer injections, animal vaccinations, medications, treatments, and supportive care measures as needed
  • Be comfortable with performing common soft tissue surgery procedures including hernia repairs, cryptorchid surgery, entropions, enucleations, tail amputations, cherry eyes, and others as requested.
  • Be able to receive emergency referrals for pyometra surgeries
  • Provide excellent customer service and accurately communicate intake and discharge information to clients in need of additional information
Qualifications
  • GA Veterinary license - current and in good standing
  • Ability to perform an average of 25-35 surgeries on dogs/cats of all sizes and stages of reproduction using HQHVSN techniques as set forth by the ASPCA Humane Alliance
  • Must be a compassionate caregiver for the animals and have patience and understanding when working with the public.
  • Must provide excellent customer service in person, on the phone and via text/email. Clear communication, written and verbal, with the ability to problem solve under pressure
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and make decisions independently surrounding the safety and care of animals
  • Must be a team player, have willingness to adjust schedule if operations require, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Compensation

The average number of hours per day is typically between 7-8 depending on speed and patient recovery.
