Overview
The Urology Advanced Practitioner will work in a collegial relationship with the Jennie Stuart Medical Center Urologist(s), providing high quality urologic care to patients with the goal of allowing each patient to attain his or her maximum level of wellness and satisfaction. The APP will collaborate with other health care disciplines working with patient and their families to coordinate high quality, individualized health care to promote a safe environment for wellbeing.
Job Responsibilities- Provides direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activities. Position specializes in treating patients with kidney stones and other general urologic conditions.
- Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests.
- Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment.
- Collaborates with physician(s) to provide appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice.
- Collects, organizes, records, and discusses data as appropriate and uses sound clinical judgment based in best practice standards and evidenced based medicine.
- Prescribes pharmaceuticals according to patient needs and conducts appropriate patient follow-up & outreach.
- Ensures timely retrieval of laboratory and ancillary studies and diagnostic consultation reports.
- Consults with appropriate internal and external staff to make appropriate referrals for acute, chronic and preventive care.
- Coordinates patient care and visits with appropriate clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Educates patient and families using pertinent health education materials or programs.
- Operates within approved scope of practice and standardized procedures.
- Participates in quality improvement process, policy and procedure review and continuing medical education.
- Contributes to the overall cleanliness and appearance of personal workspace and department.
- Maintains all clinical equipment. Evaluates all equipment for damage or maintenance needs and reports when needed.

Minimum Education:
Graduate of an approved physician assistant / nurse practitioner program.
Work Experience:
Previous clinical experience preferred.
Required License/Certification/Registration:
